A Futurity That Won’t Make Your Bank Account Cry

Welcome to Poor Boys Futurities!

Perhaps you're wondering, what the heck is "Poor Boys Futurities"??? To accurately answer that question, we'll need to start by telling you a little bit about who WE are!

We are horse people. We are ropers and we are barrel racers. We also have jobs in town. Our horses are our lifestyle, but they are not all we do. Most of us aren't breeding horses as our sole source of income.

Team Roping and Barrel Horse futurities have been gaining in popularity. Not only do they give horse owners and breeders a chance to compete for big money, but they also give back to the stallion owners through incentive dollars and marketing.

This all sounds amazing, but there is only an elite group of stallion owners who can afford these programs. So we thought, "What if we could do it better? What if we could create an incentive program that focused intently on the marketing portion while still keeping the incentive fees affordable? What if we could create an incentive program for those stallion owners who would like some additional income opportunity, but can't afford to go all in with some of the BIG incentive programs?"

And that is when the idea of Poor Boys Futurities came to fruition!

Here's how we're different:

-50/50 split on annual incentive fees. 50% goes back to the stallion owners and is not based on the size of the events, but rather how many stallions are incentivized and how well their offspring perform. The remaining 50% is allocated towards marketing and administration fees.

-Affordable incentive fees based on categories of stallions. Junior stallions with less than 5 offspring will pay an annual incentive fee of $1500. Once they hit 10 competing offspring, they will be eligible for the Contender category. Contender stallions have 10 or more competing offspring. Their annual incentive fee will be $2500. Legacy stallions are those who are deceased. The incentive fee is a one-time fee of $5000 and the stallion will remain in the hall of fame forever.

-Nominations are not required until the horse is of competition age. At that time, nominations will be an annual fee of $200 and will be required for every year competing. 50% of the nomination fees will go into the nomination pot and paid out to either the breeder or current owner listed on the papers, and the remaining 50% will be allocated towards event marketing and administrative costs.

-All registered horses under the age of 6 can compete in the Futurities with a paid entry fee and an additional $300 non-nomination fee. This fee will go towards the breeder/owner incentive.

-Events will pay out 80/20% or better based on number of entries. We want the contestants, breeders and stallion owners to make the money!

-Transparency, honesty, integrity, opportunity and FUN are what Poor Boys is all about!

Our first futurity event is scheduled for November 3-4th in South Jordan, Utah and you don't want to miss it! Make sure to mark it down on your calendar! We will be having a barrel race, team roping and women's breakaway roping!
